Gene took over in 2016 as the Executive Vice President and promptly transitioned to President of AJ Sackett and Waconia Companies. Gene grew up farming and brings a lifetime of AG experience with him. His family owned and operated a farm, and a retail fertilizer and farm implement business.

Gene’s past experience includes working as the President of Midway Connection Airlines, a commuter airline based in Chicago, IL and Raleigh, NC. He was also President of Northern Star Minerals, a wholesale, retail, warehousing and NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium) manufacturing company with locations in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. After a merger he became Vice President of Fertilizer and Nutrition for the Wilbur-Ellis Company until he arrived with us.

Gene earned an Associate’s degree from Lansing Community College, and attended Michigan State University. He also graduated from American Flyers Flight Academy in Chicago with a Commercial Airline Transport Pilots license.
